Ahead of her return to the ring on Rampage alongside husband Sammy Guevara, Tay Conti now has a new ring name.
Tay Conti hasn’t wrestled in AEW since Double or Nothing back in May when she teamed with Sammy Guevara and Frankie Kazarian to defeat Men of the Year and Paige VanZant. Although she continued to appear on television with Guevara joining the Jericho Appreciation Society.
However, the star recently took some time off along with Guevara for the couple’s wedding on August 7th. The newlyweds were joined by Tony Khan and a number of other wrestling personalities for the ceremony at Luxmore Grande Estate in Winter Springs, Florida.
On the August 10th edition of AEW Dynamite it was announced that Guevara and Conti will be back in action on the following episode of Rampage when they defend their AAA World Mixed Tag Team Championship against Dante Martin and Skye Blue.
The seeds for the clash were sown at Fight for the Fallen when Guevara and Martin met in the ring with Conti and Blue in the respective corners.
However, it appears that the Tay Conti name is no more. During the announcement for the match, Tay was billed as Tay Melo. Seemingly in a nod to her family name of Melo de Carvalho. Her now former “Conti” surname came from her previous marriage to Judoka Jorge Conti.
