On the February 27th episode of Monday Night Raw, it was confirmed that Brock Lesnar will meet Omos at WrestleMania 39.
The announcement came after the Nigerian giant and MVP laid down a challenge to The Beast the previous week. The news met with a largely negative reaction both online and in the arena.
An element of disappointment comes after reports that if things played out differently, Lesnar could have featured in a dream match. It has been claimed that Stone Cold Steve Austin was offered a match with the star but turned it down. Meanwhile, there was also a tease that a bout against Gunther could be on the way after their staredown at the Royal Rumble.
There was even speculation among fans that Lesnar could face Bobby Lashley for a fourth time after their match at Elimination Chamber.
Interestingly, it has now been reported that a match between Brock Lesnar and Gunther was discussed. The report from Wrestle Votes via GiveMeSport notes that although the match was talked about, these talks never got very far.
“I saw the rumours, and I know it was discussed, but it didn’t get very far. It wasn’t ever set in stone.”
Vince McMahon Pushed Through Brock Lesnar Match
According to a new report, the match between Lesnar and Omos is the brainchild of Vince McMahon. Despite earlier claims that he isn’t involved with creative, the Executive Chairman reportedly pushed through the bout between the pair.
