TakeOver Name Back For NXT Specials

By Lyle Kilbane. Published 14th September 2022.

The changes keep on coming in WWE as NXT goes back to the future with the TakeOver name now apparently back for the brand’s special shows.

Following Worlds Collide, NXT’s next special is apparently on the horizon as the brand brings back an October staple. PWInsider reported that Halloween Havoc will return on the 22nd of October and will be the next NXT special following Worlds Collide on the 4th of September.

Halloween Havoc will be the first NXT special that takes place following the demise of NXT UK. Worlds Collide saw the last vestiges of that brand disappear as the NXT UK, NXT UK Women’s, and NXT UK Tag Team Championships will be unified with the NXT 2.0 versions of each belt.

But now bigger changes are again afoot on the brand as NXT 2.0 now looks to be a thing of the past, with a new logo being introduced on the same day as the one-year anniversary of the multi-coloured rebrand that harks back to the black and gold era.

Now Bryan Alvarez speaking on Wrestler Observer Live has indicated another change will be in place for Halloween Havoc with the event now listed as a TakeOver.

TakeOver was the name given to NXT specials stretching back to 2014. The name fell by the wayside after Triple H was moved aside after his health issues and NXT was rebranded under Vince McMahon’s rule.
