WWE rolls through Mississippi and Alabama this week with the shows seeing the first Live Event appearances of a highly rated tag team.
Former NXT Tag Team Champions make WWE Live Event debut
British duo Pretty Deadly made their main roster bow during the live event at the Mississippi Coliseum in Jackson MI on Saturday evening and are set to compete again at the Von Braun Civic Centre in Huntsville, AL.
The duo saw their second reign as NXT Tag Team Champions drew to a close after 98 days with a defeat to The New Day members Xavier Woods and Kofi Kingston at December’s NXT Deadline event. The win saw the New Day become just the third team in history to becom WWE triple crown Champions.
And it was the popular pairing that they faced again during their Saturday night debut, eventually falling to defeat to the 11 time WWE Tag Team Champions.
WWE officials have high hopes for Pretty Deadly and being selected for their first live event outings is a big first step towards a potential main roster debut.
The team, comprising of Elton Prince and Kit Wilson, have paired up regularly since 2019 and enjoyed stints with Progress Wrestling and Revolution Pro Wrestling.
After signing with WWE they captured the NXT UK Tag Team Championship from Mark Coffey and Wolfgang on the 25th February 2021 edition of NXT UK. They held the titles for 287 days before dropping them to Moustache Mountain on 9 December 2021.
They were crowned NXT Tag Team Champions during their debut on NXT 2.0 in April 2022, last defeating the Creed Brothers in a Gauntlet Match before dropping the straps to the same opponents at June’s In Your House event.
The pair would unify the NXT and NXT UK Tag Team Championship at NXT Worlds Collide on 4th September ahead of their recent feud with the New Day.
It remains to be seen when, but Pretty Deadly seem set main roster action before long.
