Former AEW World Champion Swerve Strickland has fond memories of a 2024 match, stating that it was the number one moment of his career.
2024 was the year of Strickland. Capitalising on a great end to 2023, Strickland main evented multiple AEW pay-per-views and defeated Samoa Joe at Dynasty to win the World Championship for the first time in his career.
Holding the championship throughout the summer, Strickland put the title on the line against Bryan Danielson in the main event of All In. Given the magnitude of the show and that Danielson’s career was at stake, there was a real possibility that it would have been The American Dragon’s final match.
However, Danielson emerged the victor in Wembley Stadium in what was one of the matches of the year when all was said and done. In a recent interview, Bryan Danielson spoke about the match and how it meant more to him than his WrestleMania 30 triumph in 2014:
“Oh, definitely All In at Wembley Stadium. The real reason behind that is because of the things surrounding the event itself. Like having my family there. Like my wife and kids being able to get in the ring with me, and knowing that my career was coming to an end, it just felt awesome, and it just felt something like I was grateful for even happening.”
Responding to the quote on social media, Strickland added that it was the greatest moment of his career:
