Swerve Strickland Responds To Grayson Waller's AEW Jab

Swerve Strickland has addressed the comments made by WWE star Grayson Waller.

Discussing an upcoming SmackDown taping in Jacksonville, Florida on May 17th, the WWE Tag Team Champion addressed the location and stated that it had been a long time since good wrestling took place in the city:

Finally, some good wrestling in Jacksonville. I feel like it’s been years since we’ve seen some really good wrestling in Jacksonville.

The comment was a shot at AEW, who have stated that Daily’s Place is their spiritual home and was the location for a lot of Dynamite tapings during the pandemic era. Aware of the comments, the new World Champion gave his own thoughts on Waller’s comments.

Appearing on News4Jax, Strickland was aware that it was a shot at All Elite Wrestling but was unphased by it. Instead, Strickland congratulated Waller on his own championship success while reminding the world that the best wrestling happens in All Elite Wrestling:

“Obviously [it was a shot at AEW]. I love the subtleties. This person that said that, congratulations on their championship gold. Amazing. You were awesome when you were watching me in the seats when I was being a champion over where you were as well. Happy to see where you progressed to, but let’s be real, we are the best wrestling. Not just in Jacksonville, but anywhere. In the world. I stand on business on that.”

Top Star Praises Swerve Strickland

At Dynasty, Strickland defeated Samoa Joe to become the new World Champion. Many from the world of wrestling and beyond have sent their congratulations to the new champion over his landmark victory. According to one top AEW star, Swerve Strickland had that x-factor from day 1 and should have been the World Champion 2 months earlier.

Also in the interview, Swerve Strickland stated that he wanted a rematch with a top star.
