Swerve Strickland has given credit to another member of the AEW roster as being a significant influence in his matches.
Since his arrival in All Elite Wrestling 3 years ago, Strickland has put on great matches against the likes of Adam Page, Will Ospreay and Bryan Danielson and is also a former World Champion. With standout matches that far surpassed his work in WWE, Strickland stated that a major part of the success is attributed to someone who has been there since the beginning.
While speaking on the Bootleg Kev podcast, Strickland stated that Dustin Rhodes has been the one behind a lot of his matches, noting that he adds a new perspective in how to approach his matches:
“Dustin, in general, he’s been the guy behind a lot of my great matches. He doesn’t tell me what to do, but he suggests things and where they should go. And he always puts a perspective on it where I’m like, ‘Oh, now you got me really thinking.’ And then I’m like, ‘How would you do it?’ And he’s like, ‘Well, I would go this way with it,’ but he never tells me what to do.”
After defeating Ricochet at Revolution, Strickland is now the new number one contender for the World Championship.
