All Japan Pro Wrestling’s current Triple Crown Heavyweight Champion Suwama has assumed the role of Senior Managing Executive Officer.
In a press conference held in Tokyo, it was confirmed that the 44 year old would take on management duties for the company, as well as continuing in his role as a performer.
During the conference, Suwama outlined his vision to lead AJPW back to larger venues such as the Ryogoku Kokugikan, Nippon Budokan and the Tokyo Dome, whilst acknowledging the company’s need to regularly run mid-scale venues.
There would appear to be a renewed sense of urgency behind this appointment, with the perception being that the CyberFight stable (which includes Pro Wrestling NOAH and DDT, among others) has overtaken AJPW in the domestic hierarchy.
However Suwama will need to switch gears later in the month, as he attempts to fend off the challenge of former WWE star Yoshitatsu.
The pair are set to clash on March 21st, with Suwama keen to retain his belt and walk into the the 2021 edition of Champion Carnival as Champion.
Suwama became Triple Crown Heavyweight Champion back in March of 2020, where he defeated company ace Kento Miyahara at the Dream Power Series.
