The Rock Reportedly In Line For WWE Return

The Rock

WWE Survivor Series is reportedly heading to the Barclays Center in Brooklyn, New York. Not only that, WWE legend The Rock is reportedly in line to appear.

According to Andrew Zarian of the Mat Men Podcast, it is unknown whether The Rock will wrestle at the event but there is reportedly a push from the USA Network for him to appear on RAW the following night. The report adds that ‘The Great One’ wouldn’t be tied to one brand and a match between him and Roman Reigns is “softly on paper” for WrestleMania 38.

WWE last visited the Barclays Center in 2019 where the building played host to WWE’s Hall of Fame ceremony and NXT TakeOver: New York.

Meanwhile, The Rock hasn’t been seen on WWE television since appearing alongside Becky Lynch on the 20th-anniversary edition of SmackDown in October 2019. His last in-ring action came at WrestleMania 32 where he defeated Erick Rowan in an impromptu match.

His final match of any significance took place three years previously when he was defeated by John Cena at WrestleMania 29. The match served as the follow up to the “once in a lifetime” encounter between the pair a year earlier.

During his time with WWE The People’s Champion became a ten-time World Champion and multiple Intercontinental and Tag Team Champion.

The Rock last appeared at Survivor Series in 2011 where he teamed with John Cena taking on R-Truth and The Miz.

The Great One famously debuted at the 1996 edition of the event as Rocky Maivia. On that occasion, he emerged as the sole survivor on his team whilst also becoming WWE’s first-ever third generation Superstar in the process.

The Rock’s daughter Simone Johnson is also currently signed to WWE although she is yet to make her in-ring debut. Speaking during a recent interview, former NXT Superstar and current Knockouts Champion Deonna Purrazzo, recalled training with Simone while her legendary father watched on.
