Surprising WWE Star Recalls WrestleMania Reminder From Dwayne Johnson

Dwayne Johnson

Although he wasn’t part of WrestleMania 39, Dwayne Johnson has a long history at The Showcase Of The Immortals including blockbuster clashes with the likes of John Cena and Stone Cold Steve Austin.

Many people are still clamoring for him to have one last bout against Roman Reigns, who is part of the same Anoa’i dynasty as The Rock. The Great One has not ruled out the possibility and often reminds people that family is extremely important to him.

This extended to an impromptu call to a fellow Anoa’i family member, Tamina, and a member of the Hart family, Natalya, ahead of the pair teaming together at WrestleMania 37.

At the event, the two wrestled twice, first winning a Tag Team Turmoil Match to win a shot at the Women’s Tag Team Championship before falling short the following night against then champions Nia Jax and Shayna Baszler.

Dwayne Johnson gave an important reminder to Natalya

During an appearance on Bleav in Pro Wrestling, Natalya spoke about how special teaming up with Tamina was.

“Tamina, because we both come from wrestling dynasties — the Hart dynasty and the Samoan dynasty; is just, it’s magical. She was part of something very special for me in my career, which was being the first women to have two matches at WrestleMania in the same year.”

She went on to discuss the call they received from The Rock, with him reminding them that they need to keep “paying it forward”.

“Before our match at WrestleMania, with Tamina, I think it was WrestleMania 37, The Rock called us right before the match, and he was like just gave us this beautiful pep talk and told Tamina and myself, ‘Don’t forget when you walk out to think about the families and think about how we work so hard to build this, and you guys got to keep paying it forward.’ That always stuck with me.”

“His words of wisdom and his advice for us, it just stuck with me that I always have to pay it forward. I know that Tamina did and that I do, and I continue to do that.”

At WrestleMania 39, the former SmackDown Women’s Champion teamed up with Shotzi in the Fatal Four-way Tag Team Showcase which was won by Ronda Rousey and Shayna Baszler.

The star noted that the bout had its own importance as it was her partner’s first WrestleMania bout.

“This year, teaming up with Shotzi, it’s her very first WrestleMania. So to be a part of that with her, it’s so special.”
