WWE have released another onscreen personality.
As reported by PWInsider on February 14th, Matt Camp has been let go from the company. Camp, who was a host on The Bump, joined WWE in 2019 and never missed an episode of the show until the February 7th broadcast, which went live shortly after he was informed that his services would be no longer required.
Along with The Bump, Camp was a frequent host on the weekly post shows Raw Talk and the SmackDown Lowdown. Camp would also appear on kickoff shows for various Premium Live Events. The report describes Camp as a “reliable, no drama workhorse” and someone with excellent product knowledge.
Those within the company are said to be shocked by the news, especially as there was no explanation given as to why he was released. Additionally, WWE has not released any statements internally or publicly to acknowledge the news.
Matt Camp Is The Latest WWE On Air Personality To Be Released
Following the deal with Endeavor being completed, many names from talent to onscreen personalities and office staff have all been informed that they were being cut from the company. In terms of on air personalities being let go, NXT backstage interviewer McKenzie Mitchell announced that she had been released in December 2023.
The next month, reports surfaced that the SmackDown commentary line-up would change as Michael Cole would be exclusively on Raw, leaving Kevin Patrick and Corey Graves to call the action on Friday nights. The reason for this was that Patrick would have to prove himself by being the solo play by play announcer on the blue brand. Patrick was removed from commentary a few weeks later and released shortly before the Royal Rumble.
One day later, it was announced that a WWE senior staff member had exited the company.
In regards to the release, Matt Camp branded one aspect as “total horsesh*t.”
