Surprise WWE Title Change Occurs During Post-SmackDown Taping (SPOILER)

The WWE Championship

An unexpected title change occurred at a WWE taping ahead of last night’s edition of SmackDown!

Before and after SmackDown broadcast live from the KFC Yum! Center in Louisville, Kentucky last night, WWE taped two editions of its X-exclusive digital show WWE Speed. While the company usually only tapes one episode a week, the double taping this week is presumably due to SmackDown taking place internationally in Glasgow, Scotland next week.

After defeating Tommaso Ciampa to earn a title shot against the show’s champion Ricochet, Andrade went on to shockingly dethrone him just 42 days into his reign. In doing so, the former AEW star captured his first title in the company since losing the United States Championship to Apollo Crews back in May 2020.

Should the show maintain its current taping schedule, the shocking title win will presumably air on the June 20th edition of WWE Speed. The show’s latest episode saw Andrade pick up a win over Karl Anderson in just 47 seconds, allowing him to advance to the finals of the #1 Contender’s Tournament against Ciampa.

Why Doesn’t Ricochet Appear With His Title Outside of WWE Speed?

Despite becoming the inaugural Speed Champion back in April, Ricochet’s title has been mysteriously absent during his televised appearances on Raw since. The reason has seemingly been revealed by Ricochet himself, who recently implied that the title is only allowed to appear on X due to the platform’s exclusive deal with the company.

Because a specific company paid a specific amount of money to have a specific show and title, EXCLUSIVELY be shown on their specific platform.

Following the Ricochet attack that took place on WWE Raw, an update has been provided.
