SummerSlam Continues WWE’s Record-Breaking 2023

WWE Donates $20,000 To Detroit Youth Groups Ahead Of SummerSlam

It seems like every month, WWE is setting is another company record, and this trend hasn’t stopped at SummerSlam.

The ‘Biggest Party of the Summer’ saw multiple huge results, including Cody Rhodes defeating Brock Lesnar to end their trilogy, IYO SKY cashing in her Money in the Bank briefcase to become the new Women’s Champion, and Roman Reigns defeating Jey Uso in Tribal Combat, albeit with some shocking help from Jimmy Uso.

Outside the ring, the event racked up other, record-breaking, results for WWE. Speaking at the post-show press conference, Chief Content Officer Triple H revealed that attendance for the event was 59,194 and said it was the highest-grossing SummerSlam in history.

“Tonight was the highest-grossing SummerSlam in the history of the WWE. It’s actually our highest-grossing PLE ever outside of WrestleMania.

On top of this, he noted that sponsorship, merchandise, social, and viewership on Peacock all looked to have set records.

Triple H credits WWE stars for record-breaking run of events in 2023

Earlier in the press conference, Paul Heyman had tried to claim that he and Roman Reigns were responsible for the company’s recent successes. However, The Game took time to widen that out, saying that there were stars who had taken an opportunity to shine.

“I wanna point out the fact of something I think is really cool – and Heyman just talked about the success of everything that’s happening. While I certainly acknowledge the Tribal Chief and The Bloodline, I think it’s so many things that have risen, that have been put on display, and people that have been given the opportunity to shine in a way that has really tranformed WWE.

“That, to me, shows in things like us breaking records at every PLE that we have done in 2023. Every single one of them has broken a record.

“Almost every week, when we’re at Raw, when we’re at SmackDown, when we’re getting the reports. It’s, ‘largest gate ever’, ‘largest attendance in that market’s history. The amount of records that we’re setting right now, the amount of business that we’re doing, if this was a tweet, I’d use the little flame emoji.”
