The Dark Order looks like it is one member down in AEW after it emerged that Stu Grayson has seemingly unexpectedly left the company.
Grayson made his AEW debut at the first-ever Double Or Nothing pay-per-view in May 2019 alongside long-time tag team partner Evil Uno. The pair were accompanied by the infamous creepers and were the first members of what became The Dark Order.
With a batch of AEW contracts expiring, Joey Janela, Marko Stunt, and Jack Evans were all removed from the AEW roster page online but so was Stu Grayson, to many people’s surprise.
Speaking on Wrestling Observer Radio, Dave Meltzer gave more details on Grayson’s unexpected departure from the company:
“He was removed from the roster page and the story that I’m getting is his contract expired, which is the same as Marko Stunt, Joey Janela, and Jack Evans whose names were removed from the roster page because their contracts expired. The only word kinda going around is that they failed to come to terms on a new agreement.”
“I don’t know if that means they’re still talking or if that was one of the decisions made not to renew him. I can see it in a sense that they have so many guys on the roster and he’s been there for 3 years and there’s just so many guys. But on the flip side, Joey Janela wanted out, Marko Stunt kind of wasn’t used anymore. Jack Evans was good, but the thing with Stu Grayson is in the ring, the guy’s great. […] But he wasn’t a guy that got over great but as a technical wrestler he was really, really good.”
Stu Grayson wrestled for AEW as recently as the edition of AEW Dark: Elevation that aired on the 25th of April. Grayson teamed with fellow Dark Order members Evil Uno, Alex Reynolds, Alan Angels, and Ten to defeat Bulk Nasty, Jake Omen, Luther, RC Dupree & Tito Oric.
