It appears that CM Punk may no longer be All Elite. Furthermore, his departure may have even derailed plans for a major story involving The Firm.
CM Punk hasn’t appeared with AEW since the now infamous brawl following All Out. During the post-show media scrum Punk went on the attack against the Young Bucks, Kenny Omega, Colt Cabana and Hangman Adam Page. This led to a fight breaking out backstage between Punk & Ace Steel and The Elite. While all involved were suspended and stripped of their respective titles, it has long been rumoured that Punk will be leaving the company altogether.
CM Punk Is “No Longer In The Company”
What has been lost in the chaos is what actually took place in the ring at All Out. The show featured the return of the MJF, who won the Casino Ladder Match with the help of Stokely Hathaway and The Firm. Following Punk’s victory in the main event over Jon Moxley where he claimed the AEW World Title, he was confronted by MJF, who was now the number one contender. This led many to believe that the plan was for the feud between the pair to continue.
During an appearance on The Sessions with Renee Paquette, Stokely Hathaway has now revealed that the original plans for The Firm were scrapped. Although the star didn’t name CM Punk, he said that the person they were due to feud with is “no longer in the company.”
“Everything that was supposed to happen with The Firm did not happen. Back at All out, what happened immediately after the pay-per-view, that was a huge part of it. [The person] we were supposed to directly feud with is no longer in the company,”
MJF and The Firm initially appeared as a united front but the two sides quickly fell apart. MJF chastised his enforcers for attacking Jon Moxley, before they turned on him, leaving him laying. The Salt of the Earth went on to win the AEW World Title at Full Gear from Moxley with the help of William Regal.
