Stipulation Added To Roman Reigns Vs. Riddle For SmackDown

Riddle makes his entrance on WWE SmackDown 2022

A stipulation has been added to Roman Reigns and Riddle’s impending clash for the Undisputed WWE Universal Championship, whereby the challenger will be banished from facing Reigns should he lose.

Roman Reigns is scheduled to defend the Undisputed WWE Universal Championship against Riddle, as was set up on last Friday’s WWE SmackDown. However, last night’s Monday Night Raw saw Paul Heyman reveal a troubling stipulation set in place for the challenger.

Appearing as a guest on MizTV, Heyman declared that ‘The Original Bro’ will be unable to challenge ‘The Tribal Chief’ again if he loses on Friday evening. Riddle had previously promised both Heyman and Roman Reigns that neither of them know what he was truly capable of, given the circumstances.

The match will mark Riddle’s first attempt at a WWE World Championship since he joined the promotion. A previous Intercontinental and Raw Tag Team Champion (alongside RK-Bro partner Randy Orton), the ex-PROGRESS Atlas Champion be the latest to attempt to end the vicious streak of Roman Reigns that began in August 2020.

Riddle had earned his opportunity at the Undisputed WWE Universal Championship when he defeated honorary Bloodline member Sami Zayn on last week’s SmackDown. The stipulation in place meant that he’d be banished from the blue brand if he lost to Zayn.

Roman Reigns and Riddle’s championship clash was originally believed to be occurring at the Money In The Bank event on Saturday, 2 July, with Reigns then moving on to face Randy Orton at SummerSlam on 30 July and Drew McIntyre at Clash At The Castle on 3 September. However, he’s now been removed from advertising for the show.
