With retirement fast approaching, Sting has opened up on how he wants his career to be remembered.

After almost four decades in the ring, Sting will hang up his boots after one last match at AEW Revolution on March 3rd. There, The Icon will team up with Darby Allin to defend their Tag Team Championships against The Young Bucks.

Speaking to the New York Post, the star gave his thoughts on what he wants to achieve in his final bout. The former WCW Champion says he wants to entertain the fans while also showing he could still go right up to the end.

“I just want wrestling fans to be entertained. I want it to be a night to remember, a night where no one would say, ‘Ah man, it was just kind of sad. You can tell it just kind of passed him by. Well, good thing he’s done now.’

“I don’t want that. I want them to go, ‘Oh my god, how does he do that?’ I want them to say, the Bucks, Darby, Sting all of them, that was so entertaining. That’s a night to remember. That’s all I ever cared about.”

When it comes to his legendary career overall, the veteran wants to be remembered as someone who was “rock solid” every time he stepped between the ropes.

“I’d like to be remembered as Sting the guy who brought it every night. Sting the guy who never really changed. He was just rock solid through and through all the years and he was a man of God.”

AEW President Tony Khan has paid tribute to Sting, saying he fit the company “like a glove” from the start.

Sting Promises Retirement Match Will Be Something Special

In another recent interview, Sting laid out his hopes for his last match, saying that when it’s all said and done he wants fans to ask, “How was that even possible?” He added that he plans to wrestle in a way that’ll make people want to watch the bout again and again.
