Sting Receives Powerbomb From Brian Cage On AEW Dynamite

Sting

Sting and Darby Allin are set to team up at AEW Revolution to take on Team Taz in a Street Fight, but the fighting has already begun.

After being called to the ring on AEW Dynamite, things got physical in a big way between The Icon and his latest adversaries.

In charge of the microphone Taz took the opportunity to taunt Sting, saying that “you’ve stepped in this ring, that’s the worst thing that you could have done…” Taz went on to say that Sting is nothing without his bat, to which Sting promptly dropped his trusted companion before throwing his jacket at Cage, following it up with a flurry of right hands. However, following a distraction Cage was able to gain the upper hand and drill Sting with a vicious looking powerbomb.

This was the first time that Sting was on the receiving end of any offence of real note since since suffering a serious neck injury during a match with Seth Rollins at WWE Night Of Champions in 2015.

Sting debuted at AEW Winter Is Coming in December 2020 and quickly formed an alliance with TNT Champion Darby Allin, much to the ire of Team Taz. Following weeks of back and forth it was eventually revealed that The Stinger would team with Allin to take on the team of Brian Cage and Ricky Starks at AEW Revolution.

On the 10th February episode of Dynamite Allin was taken by Team Taz, and last seen being dragged behind a car while zipped up in a body bag.

Meanwhile, ahead of Sting’s AEW in-ring debut, Cody Rhodes has been talking up the potential for a match between himself and the master of the Scorpion Deathlock. With the AEW Vice-President saying that he wants to “stand across from the Stinger,” adding “if there is somebody I wanted to beat, it’s the face of TNT’s hottest period and run.”
