Sting Promises Something Special For Final Match At AEW Revolution

Sting Promises Something Special For Final Match At AEW Revolution

Sting wants to make sure that his final match is memorable.

After more than 3 decades and competing in all the major promotions in the United States, The Icon will finally retire on his own terms at AEW Revolution in Greensboro, North Carolina.

Once again teaming with Darby Allin, the AEW Tag Team Champions will defend the titles against The Young Bucks in what is very likely going to be the main event of the show. Not one to take it easy in his final matches, the Hall of Famer has continued to jump off great heights and crash through tables despite the fact he is approaching his 65th birthday very soon. With other matches seeing The Icon take part a part of high-risk spots, it appears the final match will be more of the same.

Speaking with Sports Illustrated ahead of his final match, Sting made it clear that he wanted his last outing to be something memorable while also elevating the company that gave him one final run:

“I want people to walk away saying, ‘How was that even possible?’ I want people to be entertained. I want to elevate AEW. I never wanted wrestling to pass me by. That’s why I wrestled the way I did. This Sunday, I’m going to wrestle a way that will make people want to save the tape.

The former World Champion continued, praising long-time partner Allin and revealing that they have each taught the other a lot in their time together:

“I’m in good hands next to Darby. It’s been an honor to see him turn into this polished star. I’m grateful my last hurrah was with him. I didn’t teach him much about wrestling other than psychology here or there. Less is more, I taught him that. I taught him that it’s good to lose if you can lose the right way. Overall, he’s got the wrestling down. But I’ve learned so much from him. I couldn’t have been this successful without him.”

Sting Discusses Dream Match That Never Came To Be

While The Icon has faced off against many top stars in wrestling over the course of his career, there was one opponent that was always a notable absence. In a separate interview discussing his time in WWE, Sting explained why he thought that a certain match would go on to make the dream match a possibility.
