Sting has recalled the infamous moment when he was rescued from the Four Horsemen by the cyborg hero, Robocop.
In an interview with Bleacher Report, the ‘Icon’ spoke about the Robocop’s appearance at WCW’s Capital Combat in 1990, something that was set up to promote Robocop 2 being released in cinemas. At the time, Sting was embroiled in a feud with his former allies, the Four Horsemen. While on his way to the ring, the WWE Hall of Famer was attacked by the Horsemen and locked in a cage. Robocop soon came out and ripped the cage door off its hinges, freeing Sting so the pair could see off the villains.
Sting says that, while it was embarrassing at the time, he’s now glad it happened.
“At the time, it was one of the most embarrassing things to endure. Now I am glad that it happened and I have an original Robocop shirt with both of us. I wear it sometimes for podcasts and it gets a good laugh.”
In the same interview, Sting also cleared up the rumour that Robocop was portrayed at the show by Peter Weller, who played him in the movies.
“No no no. It was not Pete Weller (laughs). I think it was some stunt guy. I’m not sure who it was but I know it wasn’t Peter Weller.”
