Sting Bestowed With Unique Honour At AEW Revolution

The city of Greensboro has recognised the accomplishments of Sting and will celebrate it for years to come.

Wrestling fans will always remember March 3rd 2024 as the night when The Icon put on the facepaint, grabbed the bat and stepped inside the squared circle one final time. Teaming with Darby Allin once more, the duo defeated The Young Bucks in a Tornado Tag Team match to retain the Tag Team Championships.

With Tony Khan doing all he could to make the retirement as legendary as possible, an amazing video package aired along with Ric Flair and Ricky Steamboat factoring into the match that took place inside The Greensboro Coliseum. Additionally, the legendary announce duo of Jim Ross and Tony Schiavone called the action alongside Excalibur. With many pleased to see The Icon go out in style and have one of the greatest send-offs in history, the host city also wanted to pay tribute.

As seen on their social media, Greensboro Deputy City Manager Chris Wilson joined Greensboro Coliseum Deputy Director Scott Johnson to present The Icon, Allin, Flair, Schiavone and Ross with their own custom bats. Additionally, March 3rd will be recognised as Thank You Sting Day moving forward.

Talk about an ICON-ic night! Coliseum Deputy Director Scott Johnson presented this group of LEGENDS with their custom bats, and Chris Wilson, Deputy City Manager of @greensborocity, presented Sting with a proclamation that March 3 is officially THANK YOU STING DAY in Greensboro!

Many from the wrestling world have taken to social media to pay tribute to the legendary career of The Icon. Additionally, many top names in wrestling have discussed how the Hall of Famer has influenced their own career.
