Sting may have retired from in-ring competition but fans will still get to see the icon in his first appearance since hanging up his boots.

At AEW Revolution on March 3rd, at the Greensboro Coliseum, in Greensboro, North Carolina the legend competed in his final match – the wild World Tag Team Championship match against the Young Bucks.

As well as his last-ever match The Tornado Tag Team bout featured several memorable moments, like the surprise appearance of Ricky The Dragon Steamboat, and the inclusion of The Stinger’s sons decked out in his former gimmicks. But Darby Allin’s jaw-dropping dive from the top of a ladder through a pane of glass will live the memory of fans for years.

Following the match, he addressed the fans and thanked them for their love and support throughout his near forty-year career, while his friends and peers gathered on the entrance ramp to give him a well deserved standing ovation and a fond farewell.

Taking the mic the former World Champion said:

“Thank you, Greensboro. To be honest with you, I’ve been thanking you all since March of 1988. ‘Nature Boy’ [versus] Sting, 45-minute draw for the world title. Thank you, Ric. Greensboro, you were incredible in ‘88 and beyond, all the way to this very night. I’ve been saying in all kinds of interviews, I just want this to be a night that wrestling fans will not forget, a night of wrestling that will be etched in your minds for years to come. It is me that’s saying that this is a night I’ll never forget. Thank you, Greensboro. H/T Fightful

The Stinger has since thanked Tony Khan for the success of his final fight.
