Steve Austin Match Rumored For WWE’s Most Star-Studded Show In History

Steve Austin and Roman Reigns backstage for WWE WrestleMania 32 Week

Steve Austin remains relevant in the Endeavor era of WWE as fans continue to call for “one more match” from the wrestling legend. The 35-year-plus industry veteran has come close to another in-ring outing in recent years, and now the wait may be worth it as Austin is being discussed for one of the biggest WWE events in company history.

Stone Cold officially retired in March 2003, but he returned for a No Holds Barred hometown win over Kevin Owens at WrestleMania 38 in 2022, which interestingly almost did not happen. Austin turned down other opportunities in recent years, and made special non-wrestling appearances at WrestleMania 41 earlier this year.

WWE is expected to confirm WrestleMania 43 for the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia later this afternoon. The announcement was reportedly deleted earlier this week after being made before they actually planned to. There’s been talk of The Rock negotiating a major deal for the first-ever Showcase of The Immortals outside of North America, but The Final Boss isn’t the only legendary name wanted by the Saudis in 2027.

Steve Austin Possibly Wrestling In Saudi Arabia

WWE is expected to take WrestleMania 43 to Riyadh, Saudi Arabia in April 2027. A new report from The Wrestling Observer Newsletter notes that the idea behind the first-ever Grandest Stage of Them All in the Kingdom is to have the most star-studded event in pro wrestling history.

Steve Austin is being discussed for WrestleMania in KSA. The two-time WWE Hall of Famer would be 62-years-old by that time, and while still unconfirmed, Saudi officials were reportedly told, by WWE and/or Austin, that he wants to make sure he is healthy before committing, and that he’d be physically ready to work a match.

The Texas Rattlesnake was described as having great pride, and being happy with the idea that the match with Kevin Owens would be his last. He has not publicly closed the door on another match, but is adamant that all circumstances would have to be right, especially the creative direction. WWE recently nixed another major role for Austin.
