Prior to WrestleMania 38, it was believed that Stone Cold Steve Austin would never wrestle again.
The man himself insisted that he was happily retired and it had been 19 years since he had a real match. However, despite a history of neck and knee injuries, Austin rolled back the years in Dallas, Texas and turned in a performance that exceeded expectations of fans around the world. In fact, the match went so well, it has since been reported that WWE have offered Austin the chance to wrestle again.
Is Steve Austin Training For A Comeback?
This set off an incredible wave of speculation about where a match could take place and who his opponent might be. The rumours continued to intensify as Austin posted a series of workout videos across his social media. Although he later denied that he was training for anything in particular. The WWE Hall of Famer claimed that he was tired of “looking like sh*t” so decided to do something about it.
“People have been speculating ‘Hey Steve, what are you doing? What are you training for? You training for an event?’ You can speculate what you want, I just looked in the mirror and realised that I looked like sh*t, so I called my diet coach up…
As far as bodyweight goes, probably sub 232 [lbs] the leanest I’ve been in sh*t, forever. Anyway that’s the bottom line, I just got tired of, I looked in the mirror and I looked like sh*t. Got tired of looking like sh*t, so I’m taking action to do something about it.”
Despite this the speculation around a comeback has continued, and in a fresh post to Instagram, Steve Austin looks to be in the best shape he’s been in for years.
Although fan excitement about a potential return is high, Mick Foley has suggested that he doesn’t want to see Austin back. The Hardcore legend surmising that his match at WrestleMania 38 should be the perfect farewell.
