Steve Austin was not pleased with his highly-anticipated WWE return match.
coming out of retirement in 2022, Austin competed in his first match in 19 years as he faced off against Kevin Owens in the main event of night one in a no holds barred match. The highly entertaining bout saw The Texas Rattlesnake play all the hits complete with brawls, beer and of course multiple stunners.
Although the fans attending the event live in Texas were pleased with what they saw and fans around the world expressed that they wanted to see more from Austin given his performance, the Hall of Famer did not see things the same way.
Speaking with Christopher Kamrani from The Athletic, Austin noted that while Owens got to experience Stone Cold, it was not the true Stone Cold, adding that he wanted to do more but was aware of his physical limitations:
“(Owens) got in the ring with the name Stone Cold Steve Austin, but he didn’t get in with the true Stone Cold who was a (expletive) machine,” Austin says. “When the ball rang, I was an (expletive). And he didn’t get that guy. That’s what I was mad about. I wanted him to know what it was like to be in there with the (expletive) when he’s on. The whole time I was drinking beer? I wasn’t advertising my beer,” he says. “I was just wetting my whistle because I didn’t know where the water was. I should’ve been more revealing at the moment. I wasn’t satisfied with it.”
“You try to be the guy you were, you try to be in that alpha state. Although your mindset is there, physically you are not.”
Will Steve Austin Be At WrestleMania 41?
Not making a televised appearance since his return match, despite the fact that many believed that there would be a cameo against The Rock at WrestleMania 40, Austin appears to be done with wrestling entirely. More focused on life on the ranch with his cats Pancho and Macho, Steve Austin has remained very much out of the industry and has previously said in an interview that he is done as an in-ring competitor. However, in terms of a possible future appearance, Austin noted that WrestleMania 41 is not too far away from his ranch:
“I said I won’t leave Nevada. It’s hard to get me out of this state,” he says. “But … Wrestlemania next year is in Vegas. That’s in Nevada.”
In a new update, a top WWE star has called for a Steve Austin return.
