Stephanie Vaquer is now a double champion in WWE.
Competing in the main event of the NXT Roadblock special, Women’s North American Champion Vaquer defeated NXT Women’s Champion Giulia in a winner takes all match. Vaquer won the match and the title after hitting a third SSB backbreaker. As a result of the victory, Vaquer is the first wrestler to hold the NXT Women’s and NXT Women’s North American Championships at the same time.
After the match, Vaquer celebrated with both championships and confetti rained down in The Theater at Madison Square Garden. It was also noted on commentary that Vaquer is the first woman in the promotion to hold 2 championships simultaneously since Becky Lynch won the Raw and SmackDown Women’s Championship in the main event of WrestleMania 35.
The victory brings to an end Giulia’s reign as Women’s Champion at 63 days. Vaquer won the Women’s North American Championship back in February at the Vengeance Day Premium Live Event. Confronting Giulia later that night, both champions later confirmed that they would battle it out to see who was the top star on NXT.
Why Stephanie Vaquer Began In NXT
Vaquer joined WWE in late 2024 and made her arrival on NXT in October of that year. However, in a recent interview, Vaquer stated that there could have been an option for her to debut on the main roster:
“My dream. WWE is my dream… I tried to think like an adult, that option. But WWE is my dream and say, okay, this is for me. Many options and talks but, say no. WWE is for me and I take NXT because I really like (to) do things or new things but good. I don’t like the fast and no good.
So, I say okay, I need to learn English, I need to learn TV show, I need to learn American style, WWE style. So I say, first I say main roster. That changed and say, ‘I want to go to NXT to learn…’ Yeah (WWE asked me if I wanted to start on the main roster)… Main roster (was my first answer). The first call, they call me and say, ‘NXT or main roster?’ I say, ‘Main roster…’ Yeah, I think and say, ‘Okay. Take it easy. I need to learn English… Okay, change. NXT.’”
