It has been announced that new co-CEO and Chairwoman of WWE Stephanie McMahon will be kicking off SmackDown.
As the wrestling world wraps it’s collective head around the news that Vince McMahon has retired from his duties as WWE CEO and Chairman of the Board, the show rolls on. In this case, the show rolls into Boston for Friday Night SmackDown.
Fresh from the announcement that she is the new co-CEO and Chair of the company alongside Nick Khan, Stephanie McMahon will be speaking on the blue brand.
It’s been quite the day for the Stephanie/Triple H household, as it was announced earlier in the day that The Game would be returning to his previous role of Head of Talent Relations.

However, while the situation seems clear in the boardroom, things are apparently very different in the ring. Following Vince McMahon’s announcement, it was reported that Brock Lesnar walked out of SmackDown, just hours before the show is due to go on the air.
Lesnar’s walkout throws not only SmackDown, which he was due to be heavily featured on, but also SummerSlam into potential disarray. Lesnar is currently scheduled to meet Roman Reigns in the main event in a Last Man Standing Match for the Undisputed WWE Universal Championship.
While there has been no official comment on Lesnar’s status, a backup plan for SummerSlam is reportedly in place, and that plan B is Goldberg.
