A new report has suggested that Stephanie McMahon won’t be resuming her role backstage in the near future as the company look to appoint a full-time replacement.
On May 19th Stephanie McMahon announced that she is taking a leave of absence from WWE. In a short statement posted on social media, McMahon said that she would be stepping away from “the majority” of her responsibilities with the company.
“As of tomorrow, I am taking a leave of absence from the majority of my responsibilities at WWE. WWE is a lifelong legacy for me and I look forward to returning to the company that I love after taking this time to focus on my family.”
Following the announcement from WWE’s Chief Brand Officer, it was revealed that WWE President Nick Khan would be taking over many of McMahon’s duties in her absence.
While details behind McMahon’s hiatus remain thin on the ground, it appears that her absence won’t be short term.
While answering a question from a fan regarding what will happen in McMahon’s absence, Mike Johnson of PWInsider noted that she won’t be returning “anytime soon.”
“In the short term, it is believed Nick Khan will be overseeing Stephanie McMahon’s former team. I would expect WWE, if they aren’t already, to begin looking for someone to oversee the Brand Marketing for the company. No one I’ve spoken to believes McMahon will be returning anytime soon, so the company will need to have someone full-time.”
Stephanie McMahon might be taking time away from WWE, her husband Triple H, has now returned to work full-time following a serious “cardiac event” back in September. However, it was reported by Fightful Select that his duties are “categorically different” to before he was forced to take a break from the company.
It is currently unclear as to what his new duties include.
