Stephanie McMahon To Take A Leave Of Absence From WWE

Stephanie McMahon answers media questions

Stephanie McMahon, WWE’s Chief Brand Officer, is to take a leave of absence from the company to focus on her family.

Stephanie McMahon has made the shocking announcement that she’ll be taking a leave of absence from WWE. She made the announcement on Twitter, stating that she’ll be using this time to focus on her family. An exact length as to how long she’ll be away from WWE is yet to be announced:

“As of tomorrow, I am taking a leave of absence from the majority of my responsibilities at WWE. WWE is a lifelong legacy for me and I look forward to returning to the company that I love after taking this time to focus on my family.”

Debuting as an onscreen character in early 1999, Stephanie McMahon has been involved in some of the most famous – and infamous – storylines in WWE history, including being abducted by The Undertaker and her marriage to Test that concluded with Triple H revealing he’d already married her. The McMahon daughter has also contested a number of matches, being a former one-time Women’s Champion.

Stephanie was promoted to WWE’s Chief Brand Officer in December 2013, having previously spent years as the Director of Creative Television, the Senior Vice President of Creative Writing, and the Executive Vice President of Creative Development and Operations. Her current role sees her responsible for WWE’s reputation alongside investors, media, and business partners.

Fightful Select published a report immediately following Stephanie McMahon’s tweet, indicating that she’s been less involved with WWE, though she still remains in her current position. As for WWE employees, they reportedly found out about Stephanie’s leave of absence when she tweeted the news, as was noted by Wrestlenomics’ Brandon Thurston.
