It has been announced that Starrcast is returning in July to coincide with SummerSlam 2022.
Fan-fest Starrcast is set to return for the first time since November 2019 in Nashville, Tennessee. The event is scheduled to take place on July 29th – July 30th at the Nashville Fairgrounds.
Starrcast V marks the fifth instalment of the event and will coincide with SummerSlam, which takes place at Nissan Stadium on July 30th.
Organiser Conrad Thompson explained that the event was originally scheduled to return in 2020 in Chicago, but that quickly proved impossible.
“Pre-pandemic, we had hoped to do another Starrcast in Chicago in 2020, but the stars just didn’t align,” Thompson says. “So it makes sense to bring it back, especially with a stadium show nearby—but this time, with a few twists that I think everybody is going to enjoy.”
Starrcast events have become known for their panel discussions with current stars and wrestling legends offering their takes on the industry’s past, present and future. Looking ahead to Nashville, Thompson said that announcements regarding the line-up will be made in the coming week.
“You’re going to hear from some names we haven’t heard from in quite a long while,” Thompson says. “And there will be some others who we may be hearing from for the last time. We’ll start all of those announcements next week.”
In closing, the ‘Pod-father’ promised that the event would be a celebration of wrestling like no other.
“We’re so excited to see so many familiar faces and get everyone back together, especially after these past few years,” said Thompson. “People from all over the world are coming to support wrestling, and we’re going above and beyond to make this special.
“This is going to be a celebration like no other, and I can’t wait for Starrcast V.”
The first Starrcast event was held in September 2018 and coincided with All In, the pay-per-view which eventually paved the way for AEW to launch early the following year.
