On June 12th, Stardom ran their Tokyo Dream Cinderella show live on PPV at Ota Ward Gymnasium in Tokyo, Japan. The World of Stardom championship was on the line in the main event on this six match card.
Oedo Tai and STARS collided once again in an elimination unit battle with some shocking results.
For months, Oedo Tai’s leader Natsuko Tora has been terrorising Mayu Iwatani and her STARS unit. After causing Rina and Ruaka to turn on her and taking Fukigen Death (previously Gokigen Death and Death Yama-san), the teams were going to face off at this show and the payoff was huge.
Mayu brought in Rin Kadokura, who fans might recognise from AEW’s Women’s Eliminator Tournament earlier in the year and had a great run in the match. Oedo Tai’s team saw Saki Kashima return and eliminate both the returning Koguma and Mayu herself.
The last two left were Natsuko and Starlight Kid, whoever got pinned would join the other unit and thanks to Oedo Tai’s conniving schemes, Mayu was tied up and had to watch her tag partner and best friend, Starlight Kid, get pinned and stolen right from under her.
A twist no one could’ve expected, the pure babyface sky tiger getting ripped from Mayu cemented Natsuko as one of the best heels in wrestling as she made the Icon of Stardom cry in front of the audience at Ota Ward. It’ll be interesting to see where this story goes from here as STARS continues to dwindle in size.
This show also saw the much anticipated main event between the World of Stardom champion Utami Hayashishita go against her strongest opponent yet, the former UFC fighter Syuri.
This match delivered. Fans are already touting this as one of the best matches this year and rightfully so. These women gave everything and didn’t stop fighting until it was a 30 minute time limit draw.
However, that wasn’t going to be the final result. These women worked too hard for the world title match to go to the time limit so the match restarted.
Complete exhaustion wasn’t going to stop these two from giving it their all and the match would eventually end in a double knockout, meaning that Utami would retain her title.
As Utami celebrated her hard fought V5, Natsuko Tora came out to officially challenge for Utami’s championship in the future.
