Special WrestleMania Entrance Was Planned For Rey Mysterio

WWE Hall of Famer Rey Mysterio was set to have a more elaborate entrance for his match at WrestleMania.

22 years after his debut match at The Show of Shows, the Hall of Famer was originally set to be in action in Las Vegas against masked wrestler El Grande Americano. However, as Mysterio suffered an injury in his match on SmackDown the day before, the former World Champion was removed from the show on short notice and replaced by Rey Fenix, who lost to El Grande Americano.

In a follow-up report by Mike Johnson of PWInsider, it is noted that there were plans to give Mysterio a nostalgic entrance for his match, complete with him leaping through the stage like he did at the start of his WWE career.

With WrestleMania being the biggest show of the year, multiple stars got special entrances for their matches, including Cody Rhodes, CM Punk and Tiffany Stratton. One of the select few to receive a live rendition of their theme, Damian Priest was played to the ring by Kerry King of Slayer.

Injury Update On Rey Mysterio

Fans in attendance were concerned for Mysterio as he was helped to the back after his match. A few hours later, news broke that the Hall of Famer would not be cleared to compete at the show. Later that day, Rey Mysterio confirmed that he had suffered a torn groin. It is currently unknown how long the former World Champion will be away from TV.

Everyone at Inside The Ropes continues to wish Rey Mysterio a full and speedy recovery.
