Sources “Confident” Former WWE Champion Will Appear On Day 1 Raw

WWE Raw Day 1

The Day 1 edition of Monday Night Raw may feature the return of a former WWE Champion.

In 2022, WWE introduced the world to their Day 1 premium live event which kicked off the year in style. The show held on New Year’s Day emanated from the State Farm Arena in Atlanta, Georgia. It was not brought back in 2023.

Though not a premium live event, the Day 1 branding is returning to the sports entertainment giant in 2024 for the January 1st edition of Monday Night Raw.

Multiple top championships will be defended on the January 1st Raw. In what is likely to be the main event, World Heavyweight Champion Seth Rollins will put the title on the line against Drew McIntyre in a rematch from Crown Jewel. As McIntyre has still yet to win a major championship with fans in attendance, The Scottish Warrior has made it clear that this is a must-win match for him.

Following Finn Balor and Damian Priest successfully defending the Undisputed Tag Team Championships against The Creed Brothers on the December 18th broadcast, Rhea Ripley will hope to continue The Judgment Day’s winning ways. Ripley will defend the title against Ivy Nile in what will be a first-time-ever match.

Now, Fightful Select reports that the company is close to striking a deal with a former WWE Champion to appear on the show, saying they’re “on the one yard line.” Sources are reportedly “confident” that the deal will be made, though they did not provide the name of the person in question nor indicate what their role will be on the first Raw of 2024.

The former champion is not someone that is on the current talent roster.

Triple H has now weighed in on the report, giving his take on the rumours.
