Sonya Deville “Mad Enough To Fight” Charlotte Flair After Becky Lynch Incident

After being caught up in the messy scenes between Charlotte Flair and Becky Lynch on SmackDown Sonya Deville was reported to be “mad enough” to want to fight Flair.

During the recent WWE Draft, SmackDown Women’s Champion Becky Lynch was traded to Raw, while the reigning Raw Women’s Champion, Charlotte Flair, was traded to SmackDown. Since the changes only came into effect following Crown Jewel on October 21st, Lynch was able to defend her title at the event one more time as part of the blue brand and emerged victorious from a Triple Threat match against Sasha Banks and Bianca Belair.

‘The Man’s victory at Crown Jewel meant that she and Flair were still SmackDown and Raw Women’s champions respectively, even though they were both swapping to the opposite brands. On this week’s SmackDown, the situation was to be resolved by the two swapping belts in a special ceremony in the last segment of the show.

Things did not go smoothly, however, and Flair dropped the Raw title rather than handing it to Lynch, and Lynch throwing the SmackDown belt at Charlotte. Following this, Sasha Banks interrupted the two to confront Flair, declaring she ran SmackDown and Flair wouldn’t take over.

According to a report by PWInsider, the title exchange did not go the way it was supposed to and led to a heated argument between Flair and Lynch once the pair went backstage.

The report stated that the confrontation was instigated by Becky Lynch, who felt Flair was “trying to make her look bad” during the segment. There were loud words between the pair, but the situation didn’t become physical.

Alex McCarthy of talkSPORT has added that there have been tensions between ‘Big Time Becks’ and ‘The Queen’ for some time, going back to a promo where Lynch called Flair “plastic” a couple of years ago.

That report also said that WWE Chairman Vince McMahon was unhappy that Charlotte walked away from Gorilla Position without speaking to him about the incident.

Now PWInsider has provided a new update saying that Becky Lynch was far from the only one involved in the segment that was unhappy with Charlotte Flair. Sonya Deville who was mediating the title switch was reported by two different sources as being “mad enough to want to fight Flair.”

The report also sheds more light on the confrontation between Lynch and Flair which is said to have happened in front of Vince McMahon and Executive Director Bruce Prichard. Reportedly blame for the situation has fallen on Flair with other incidents such as the altercation in the ring with Nia Jax several weeks ago being one of the issues related to The Queen that has caught people’s attention.

The report confirms that Charlotte Flair was escorted from the building by WWE officials with sources close to Flair quoted as saying that was a “sign of disrespect” given her family’s long affiliation with the company.
