Davey Boy Smith Jr, son of the legendary WWE Hall of Famer ‘The British Bulldog’, made his shock return to the WWE during a dark match ahead of tonight’s edition of SmackDown that features the return of fans for the first time in almost 18 months.
Davey Boy Smith Jr ended his ten-year hiatus from the WWE making his return in a dark match teaming with NXT Superstar Austin Theory to take on the debuting duo of Odyssey Jones and Xyon Quinn.

Smith would last appear in the WWE back in 2011 on the 25th of April edition of WWE Superstars in a losing effort against recently released WWE Superstar Matt Cardona FKA Zack Ryder.
His former partner, Tyson Kidd, has spoken to DropKick Podcast about the talent and where he sees him signing next:
“Man, I’ve been trying to convince him to come back for a very long time, and I’ve never left. I’m waiting on this guy to come back. He’s funny. He’s always been this way his whole life and it’s all the credit to him. He kind of always – and I mean this in a positive way – marches to the beat of his own drum, and he does his own thing. He’s not easily swayed, which I really like about him. It’s not like I just talked to him one day and [said] “hey man come back here” and then he goes “okay,” and then comes back and a month later he’s unhappy.
He weighs everything out and he puts a lot of thought into everything he does. I know obviously, [how] the world has changed these last nine months has affected him in terms of, he just hasn’t been wrestling very often. Not until the last bit he had a couple of matches finally, but he’s supposed to go to Japan and stuff and those plans obviously got altered… So where he ends up honestly at this moment, I don’t know. I recorded a thing for, who knows when this will come out, but I recorded for WWE Icons on the Network for Davey Boy. They asked me about Harry and I said hopefully when this comes out he’s back here.”
Elsewhere on the return edition of SmackDown dark matches, Aliyah and Xia Li would also make appearances facing off against one another amidst rumours both competitors are set for full time moves to the main roster.
Recent reports have suggested that Aliyah was traded from NXT to RAW as part of the deal that saw former NXT Superstar Mandy Rose make her return to NXT on the April 13th edition of WWE NXT.
According to a new report from Wrestle Votes, Aliyah could be walking all the way to the main roster, with Mandy Rose heading in the opposite direction.
The appearance marked the first time that Mandy Rose has been seen on NXT since 2017. The now RAW Superstar competed on the sixth series of WWE Tough Enough back in 2015. After coming second in the competition, Rose was signed to a WWE developmental contract shortly after.
Rose made her main roster debut in November 2017, as part of Absolution along with Paige and Sonya Deville. After the group disbanded, Rose and Deville continued to team together where they challenged for the Women’s Tag Team Titles. After a brief run as a singles star, Rose is currently teaming with Dana Brooke on RAW where the pair have become engaged in a rivalry with tag champions champions Natalya and Tamina.
Speaking backstage after the surprise appearance, Rose hinted that she has big plans on the black and gold brand.
Aliyah initially signed with WWE in 2015, performing intermittently for the company, before wrestling on NXT on a more regular basis from early 2019.
