“Something Tells Me We’re Not In The Third Inning Anymore” – Cody Rhodes

Could Cody Rhodes finally get to finish the story?

WrestleMania 39 was supposed to be the fairytale ending of Cody Rhodes’ return to WWE. The star had made a stunning return to the company a year earlier and had overcome a serious pectoral injury won the Royal Rumble, and survived an intense feud with Seth Rollins to get into the main event.

Rhodes was driven by history and the weight of his family’s legacy. For the American Nightmare, he needed to defeat Roman Reigns to not only become World Champion but to win the championship his legendary father never won.

The problem was, and something many people thought impossible, Reigns won. This sent Rhodes into a feud with Brock Lesnar and a distance from the Tribal Chief. Meanwhile, Reigns’ run of domination continued, despite The Bloodline seemingly being on the brink of collapse.

Rhodes’ story remained unfinished.

However, the star seems to think that’s about to change. Appearing on the September 26th episode of Raw, Rhodes addressed Jey Uso moving to the red brand before seemingly referencing Reigns, commenting “Something tells me we’re not in the third inning anymore, boys.”

Cody Rhodes Responds To Paul Heyman

The not-so-thinly-veiled comments were a nudge toward claims from The Bloodline that their story is far from over. Following SummerSlam, Paul Heyman claimed the group was just “in the bottom of the third inning” and just getting started.

The quote sent shockwaves around social media, as many fans pondered the prospect of yet more dominance from Reigns. However, with one simple sentence on Raw, Rhodes has given hope that change could be coming.
