Some WWE Talent “Intentionally Avoided” Vince McMahon On Raw

Vince McMahon

Despite Vince McMahon officially only being back with WWE to help with the sale of the company, he was backstage for the March 6th episode of Raw.

It is believed that McMahon was there primarily to visit John Cena, although newly dyed hair and a “creepy-looking mustache” caught the attention of those at the show. It has also been revealed that the Executive Chairman spent all night in the Gorilla position, although Triple H remained in charge.

A new report from Fightful Select has now given an update on the reaction to McMahon being at the show in Boston, and of course, that mustache.

With regard to facial hair, it was described as looking Gomez Addams from The Addams Family, and his appearance was heavily discussed. One person who has known McMahon for 20 years said that it was a bigger shock than when he had his head shaved.

The general feeling was that McMahon coming to television wasn’t really a surprise and had been expected at some point, and many put it down to him visiting Cena. The report reiterates that McMahon was in the Gorilla position, but was relaxed and not shy about saying hello to anyone passing through.

Those backstage including talent weren’t told about him coming to the show nor was it spoken about afterward. One higher-up reportedly told Fightful that they were not told about him being there until he had arrived, adding that they would have liked to have been prepared.

Interestingly, the report notes that “a few” talents, “intentionally avoided” associating with him, despite knowing they’ll probably have to in the future.

One higher-up suggested that McMahon’s appearance was him testing the waters for attendance at future shows to see how staff reacted. It is expected that McMahon will now be present at other events.

Vince McMahon “Doing More Than They’re Letting On”

Although on an official basis Vince McMahon only returned to help sell WWE, the reality appears a little different.

In recent weeks it has been reported that McMahon has been, and is, more involved than initially believed. It is known that he speaks with Triple H regarding creative and it was claimed that he “had input” in the storyline between Roman Reigns and Sami Zayn.

This was followed by reports that the 77-year-old “pushed through” the WrestleMania match between Brock Lesnar and Omos. While it has been noted that McMahon is not “officially” involved in WrestleMania, he is “doing more than they’re letting on.”
