Although Vince McMahon claims he’s only back with WWE to ensure the company is sold, it might not be that straightforward.
After having his initial attempt to return to the company blocked, McMahon reinstated himself to WWE’s Board of Directors along with two associates. This resulted in three serving Board members being removed, two more quit and Stephanie McMahon also later left her role as co-CEO.
Vince McMahon went on to be elected Executive Director but it has been reiterated to the roster that he isn’t involved with creative. However, while giving these assurances in a talent meeting, Triple H did concede that he talks to McMahon about the subject.
Furthermore, reports have stated that some within WWE “wouldn’t be surprised” if he showed up on television in the near future.
Vince McMahon In WWE – “The Countdown’s On”
Going one further, there are now suggestions from some within WWE that McMahon could soon take full control and run the company from top to bottom as he had done previously. Speaking on Wrestling Observer Radio, Bryan Alvarez stated that he’s been told that the feeling is the “countdown is on.”
“He’s still not in charge at this moment, that is the news. But he’s bringing his team back, that’s an odd thing to do for a guy that’s just shown up to sell this place.”
“The countdown’s on everybody. I mean, I talked to people today and that was the feeling, the countdown is on. When, where, what, I mean we’ve got a Raw 30th anniversary and there’s gonna be a lot of people showing up there so I do not rule that out.”
Despite the controversy around McMahon, Ric Flair recently stated that he was happy that he is happy he is back and said that he should appear on television at the 30th anniversary Raw show.
