Some Within WWE Reportedly Pushing For Aleister Black To Return

Aleister Black

The WWE release of Aleister Black on June 2nd caught many fans by surprise, and there could yet be another twist in the story.

According to a new report from Mike Johnson of PWInsider, there has been a push from some within WWE to re-sign the star.

The report notes that some feel that Black was released too soon, and was a victim of circumstances beyond his control.

“It’s also interesting to note that in certain corners of the company, there’s been some talk that Aleister Black was cut prematurely and a push that the company should bring him back in… There’s been a feeling that of everyone Black was “cut too soon” and was more the victim of broken promises and start/stop creative more than of anything that he did of his own accord.”

Aleister Black was released alongside Braun Strowman, Lana, Buddy Murphy, Ruby Riott and Santana Garrett.

Following his release from the company, Black has spoken in positive terms about both Vince McMahon and Paul Heyman. The former NXT Champion said that he enjoyed a good relationship with the WWE Chairman while Heyman always fought for him.

While Black made sure not to diminish the efforts of those involved he did open up about the frustrating aspects of the creative process within WWE. Speaking on Twitch, Black described the last two years as a “slow death.” The former NXT star said that while everyone tried their best it was hard to get his ideas approved.

The latest round of WWE releases sparked speculation that the company could soon be up for sale. However, a new report poured cold water on the rumours, with Brandon Thurston of Wrestlenomics, writing that those he had spoken too said WWE had no intention of selling.
