Armageddon 2000 is known for one of the craziest Undertaker Hell in a Cell moments ever.
The match is the most star studded of the cell matches, with Kurt Angle defending the title against “Stone Cold” Steve Austin, The Rock, Triple H, Rikishi and The Undertaker. While the match is not as fondly remembered as others in The Attitude Era, one particular spot is well remembered by WWE fans.
The Undertaker Has Competed In 14 Hell In A Cell Matches
Rikishi and The Undertaker would make their way to the top of the structure. Taker would then grab the former Intercontinental Champion by the throat, Chokeslamming the Hall of Famer off the top of the cell and into a truck of sawdust down below.
Many in the arena and watching at home were shocked at what had just happened, including Rikishi’s sons Jimmy Uso, Jey Uso and Solo Sikoa, who were watching the match with their mother.
Speaking with Sportskeeda, The Bloodline member described his mother’s horror at watching the fall and the events that followed:
“I looked at my mom. She was crying, man, I think she started crying. My brothers, Jimmy and Jey Uso, at the time I think they were hugging my mom telling her it was all right,”
The match was won by Kurt Angle, who pinned The Rock following Austin delivering a Stunners to The People’s Champion. Austin would deliver a final Stunner to Angle after the match, standing tall as the show went off of the air.
The Undertaker would not factor into the conclusion of the match, remaining on the top of the Hell in a Cell structure following the devastating Chokeslam to Rikishi.
While retired from in-ring competition, The Undertaker is still a part of the wrestling world. The former WWE Champion has been hosting his 1 deadMAN shows throughout 2022, and will continue touring in 2023.
