Bianca Belair will defend her SmackDown Women’s Championship at WWE Hell In A Cell against Bayley.
The announcement was made after Belair challenged Bayley on the most recent episode of SmackDown. The champion had taken initially issue with how Bayley has treated her since she retained her title at WWE WrestleMania Backlash.
While Belair retained her title on that occasion, Bayley accused her of cheating after using her braid to get the win. It’s worth noting that this was after Bayley had tried to use Belair’s braid to her advantage.
On the latest episode of SmackDown, Belair was unhappy with Bayley laughing at her the previous week. Bayley accepted the challenge in a room set up as a shrine to herself. As the match was set a laughing Bayley appeared on every screen in the ThunderDome.
Bianca Belair won the SmackDown Women’s Championship from Sasha Banks in the main event of night one of WrestleMania 37.
Not only was the clash the first time a women’s singles match had headlined the event, it was also the first time that two black women had met in singles action on the ‘Grandest Stage of Them All.’
The EST of WWE recently reflected on her win, commenting that although she claimed the gold, neither woman lost on the night.
Sasha Banks is yet to return to WWE television following the defeat.
