WWE SmackDown star Shotzi has teased the return of her famed tank entrance, an aspect ripped away from her when she transitioned to the main roster.
It’s often said that a good entrance can make or break a professional wrestler. Take, for example, Karrion Kross. When he debuted on the main roster last summer and had his NXT presentation stripped from him, he floundered greatly.
Shotzi followed a similar fate. Without her famed tank entrance on the main roster, she’s failed to properly stand out, though this could be set to change imminently. The one-time NXT Women’s Tag Team Champion posted a photo of her tank to her Instagram story, teasing its return.
The green-haired Superstar regularly entered venues driving her tank, which had the ability to shoot directly into an adversary’s groin, an aspect suffered by the likes of Theory and Happy Corbin. In speaking to Ryan Satin on his Out Of Character podcast, Shotzi revealed how she embraced the decision to remove her tank:
“That wasn’t my decision, but I’m embracing the change because I’ve been ‘the ballsy badass’ my entire career, even on the indies, I was always looked at as a babyface. It’s nice after seven years later to finally change up the character and find something new within me. I think I’m finally grabbing the horns and rolling with it.”
Shotzi regaining her tank would mark the latest in Paul ‘Triple H’ Levesque’s sweeping changes to the WWE product. Already, he’s brought back the likes of Dakota Kai, The OG3 (f.k.a Hit Row), and the aforementioned Karrion Kross, prevented Gunther from being buried, and allowed the use of simple words and phrases like ‘pro wrestling’ and ‘hospital’.
The real-life Ashley Louise Urbanski signed with WWE in October 2019. Though she never quite reached the heights of her peers, the 2020 NXT Breakout Star of the Year participated in a handful of memorable matches, and held the NXT Women’s Tag Team Championships alongside Ember Moon.
