A recently returned star explained why he didn’t publicly discuss the possibility of facing Roman Reigns before arriving on SmackDown.
Karrion Kross returned on SmackDown before Clash at the Castle and immediately set his sights on the Undisputed WWE Universal Champion Roman Reigns. Kross’ real-life fiancé Scarlett set an hourglass in front of The Bloodline, teasing that Reign’s time as champion would end soon.
In an interview with Quetzalli Bulnes of WWE Espanol, Kross spoke about hiding the fact that he wanted to face Reigns after leaving NXT. Although Reigns certainly was on Kross’ list of guys he wanted to wrestle, the SmackDown star didn’t want to speak it out publicly.
“When I was leaving NXT the first time, and coming to the main roster, my goal was to compete against Roman Reigns. I wanted to be very careful how I wanted to talk about that publicly, because sometimes when you say what you wanna do, publicly, it will never happen.”
“People would ask me, ‘Do you wanna wrestle Goldberg, do you wanna wrestle Brock Lesnar, do you wanna wrestle Bray Wyatt, Drew McIntyre, Randy Orton?’ Yes, across the boards. But I would never ever talk about Roman Reigns, because I didn’t want him to know I was coming.”
Kross played a minor role during Reigns’ championship match against Drew McIntyre this past weekend at Clash at the Castle. During the match, Kross temporarily distracted McIntyre by throwing a water bottle at him.
In August, the Wrestling Observer Newsletter reported that a match between Kross and Reigns might occur at Survivor Series in November. Whether or not that comes to fruition remains to be seen.
