A Friday Night SmackDown star could be set for a renewed push after their internal WWE status was changed.
On the September 16th episode of SmackDown Raquel Rodriguez took on the leader of Damage CTRL Bayley. The match was set after Bayley’s partners Dakota Kai and IYO Sky defeated Rodriguez and Aliyah for the Women’s Tag Team Titles on Monday Night Raw.
After a back and forth match, Bayley picked up the win after Kai and SKY caused a distraction. Following the bell, Damage CTRL went to work on beating down the former NXT Women’s Champion until Shotzi ran in to try and even the score.
The move surprised many fans as Shotzi had been a heel for a number of months, so aligning with Rodriguez who is a babyface appeared to make little sense.
However, it seems that all could soon become clear. According to a new report from Fightful Select Shotzi is now listed as a babyface internally. Furthermore, the star could also be getting her signature tank back. The report adds that the tank had been scheduled to travel to the show but didn’t end up appearing.
Shotzi signed with WWE in late 2019 and quickly became a mainstay of the NXT brand. The star moved to SmackDown in July 2021, however she was last seen wrestling on the blue brand on August 26th 2022 where she teamed with Xia Li.
