Janel Grant’s team issued a statement amidst skepticism about Vince McMahon‘s new business venture.
On January 25th, former WWE employee Janel Grant filed a lawsuit against Vince McMahon, John Laurinaitis, and WWE that contained horrifying allegations of grooming, abuse, and sex trafficking. On January 26th, Vince McMahon resigned from all duties with TKO and WWE while continuing to deny the allegations against him. The lawsuit against McMahon is currently on pause at the request of the US Department of Justice.
On October 29th, PWInsider reported that Vince McMahon was preparing to launch a new entertainment company alongside former WWE executives. The company is not expected to be involved with professional wrestling projects and will instead focus on financially backing, developing, and producing film and television productions.
Fightful Select reported on October 30th that there have been rumblings about McMahon starting a new company for months, particularly as some WWE employees with stable jobs would likely not have left the company if they were not involved in a new venture alongside McMahon.
However, Fightful Select also reports that there’s much skepticism among those in the entertainment industry when it comes to McMahon finding anyone willing to work with him in light of his ongoing lawsuit scandal. One actor is quoted as saying:
“I find it hard to believe that anyone would attach themselves to this company considering his background, but there are plenty of people who just don’t care and are desperate to get their project off the ground. I can’t imagine anything actually getting done until his lawsuit is settled.”
What Did Janel Grant’s Team Say About Vince McMahon’s Potential New Company?
In light of the news, Janel Grant’s representative Kendra Barkoff Lamy issued the following statement:
“Both on and off the camera, Vince McMahon has built a reputation for his violent outbursts, sexual deviance, manipulation, and abuse. No one who cares about survivors and justice should want to work for or with any company of McMahon’s. He needs to be held accountable for the heinous acts he committed against Janel Grant and others at WWE.”
In a new interview, a former WWE star spoke out about Vince McMahon’s hectic booking methods.
