A WWE Raw superstar had gone without a victory on the show for an astonishing span of over six years. Nonetheless, their fortunes took a positive shift just this week.
This week’s Raw featured several outstanding matches, including The New Day vs. Matt Riddle and Drew McIntyre, Rhea Ripley vs. Candice LeRae, and Gunther defending his Intercontinental Championship against Chad Gable.
However, one WWE Raw match in particular holds an unusual distinction.
With help from LA Knight at ringside, Akira Tozawa scored an upset victory over The Miz. Amazingly, this was Tozawa’s first singles victory in over six years on WWE Raw.
Tozawa’s achievement was confirmed in a tweet by Sean Ross Sapp;
“That is Akira Tozawa’s first WWE Raw one on one win since beating Neville/PAC for the Cruiserweight Title in August 2017.
Six years!!”
Akira Tozawa has been collecting wins against Nathan Frazer, Tony D’Angelo and others on WWE Main Event this year, but usually when he appears on Raw, he is on the wrong end of a rear-end whooping!
Needless to say, there will have been celebrations in Akira Tozawa’s camp after WWE Raw.
When Did Akira Tozawa Last Wrestle A Singles Match On WWE Raw?
Akira Tozawa’s last singles match on Raw was a loss to Dominik Mysterio on the 26th of June.
Prior to that, Akira Tozawa has “taken an L” for several other superstars on Monday Night Raw. The list of superstars who have defeated Tozawa goes on-and-on, but includes names like Rhea Ripley, Bronson Reed and Baron Corbin.
