WCW’s Halloween Havoc is set to return in three weeks in a special edition of NXT, hosted by Shotzi Blackheart.
Announced in a video package during NXT TakeOver 31, Halloween Havoc is the latest retro pay-per-view to be revived for the black-and-gold brand’s use. NXT played host to In Your House in June and Great American Bash in July, with the former developmental brand also using WCW’s WarGames in the last few years as a regular NXT TakeOver concept.
Blackheart has been a regular feature of NXT’s women’s division since signing in October last year. She most recently appeared on the September 23rd episode of NXT, defeating Dakota Kai after losing out on a shot at the NXT Women’s Championship to Candice LeRae the week prior.
Halloween Havoc was a staple of WCW’s pay-per-view calendar, playing host to many memorable matches. It was also the show in which the infamous rematch between Hulk Hogan and The Warrior took place on 1998’s show. The last event took place in 2000, featuring Booker T vs. Scott Steiner for the WCW World Heavyweight Championship.
NXT TakeOver 31 also featured Kushida defeating the Velveteen Dream and Damian Priest successfully defending the NXT North American Championship over Johnny Gargano in the show’s opener.
