After remaining a free agent after night one of the WWE Draft, it’s been confirmed that Shorty G has been drafted to SmackDown.
Shorty G, formerly known as Chad Gable, was one of four free agents following the Draft, which took place over Friday’s SmackDown and the following Talking Smack where pot one Superstars would move to RAW or SmackDown.
The WWE Draft continues on tonight’s episode of Monday Night RAW, where talents like Bayley and Bray Wyatt’s future location will be determined. Meanwhile, Shorty G’s move means, despite being a free agent for around 48 hours, the former NXT, RAW and SmackDown Tag Team Champion will remain on the blue brand, where he’s undergone a name change and repackaging over the past year.
Gable competed at the 2012 Summer Olympics in London, before signing with WWE in 2013. Since then, Gable has largely been a tag team specialist, winning the NXT Tag Team Championships alongside Jason Jordan as part of American Alpha. The pair debuted on SmackDown in 2016 and won the brand’s Tag Team Championships shortly thereafter. After disbanding, Gable would team with Shelton Benjamin, but would be traded to RAW in 2018 and subsequently form a team with Robert Roode. Gable and Roode won the RAW Tag Team Championships in 2018 – making Shorty G the second man ever to hold the NXT, RAW and SmackDown Tag Team Championships.
While on SmackDown, Gable was involved in a short feud with former WWE Champion Sheamus.
