For the first time ever, someone other than Jade Cargill is the TBS Champion.
Heading into her TBS Title defence against Taya Valkyrie at Double or Nothing Jade Cargill had never been defeated in singles action. Her record stood at an incredible 59-0, and comparisons to WCW legend Goldberg were becoming commonplace, however, that record has now gone, and there wasn’t a taser in sight.
After being played to the ring by Big Boss Vette and even performing part of the dance routine herself on the way, Cargill got the better of Valkyrie, but only just.
Cargill was pushed all of the way by the veteran and only just kicked out of the Road to Valhalla. However, she responded quickly with Jaded to extend her unbeaten run. But her celebrations proved to be short-lived.
Jade Cargill Finally Tastes Defeat
Following the win, Mark Sterling got in the ring and talked up Cargill’s record, commenting that there was no one who could beat her.
This challenge brought out Kris Statlander who had been out of action since August after suffering a serious knee injury.
Statlander entered to a huge ovation and marched to the ring with a purpose. While Cargill stood strong and seemingly ready to dispatch yet another challenger, Statlander wasn’t to be denied.
The returning star quickly jumped the champion and despite Cargill’s best efforts, she fell to the Big Bang Theory.
As a stunned Cargill left the ring, ticker tape fell from the ceiling as a visibly emotional Statlander celebrated a perfect return to action.
Jade Cargill had held the TBS Title since it was introduced in January 2022.
In recent news, Tony Khan has addressed Jade Cargill’s absence from AEW.
