Following his victory over Jey Uso on SmackDown, Shinsuke Nakamura revealed that his next target is WWE Universal Champion Roman Reigns.
In a backstage video, which you can view below, the ‘King of Strong Style’ was asked what he was planning next, he made his intentions clear.
“What’s next? Last week, they cost my biggest opportunity. What’s next, of course, Roman Reigns”
Nakamura came close to getting a title opportunity against the ‘Tribal Chief’ last week on SmackDown when he defeated Rey Mysterio, King Corbin, and Daniel Bryan in a gruelling gauntlet match which was to determine the new number 1 contender for the Universal Championship. However, before the final entrant, WWE Official Adam Pearce, could make his entrance, Reigns and Uso made their way to the ring and assaulted an already exhausted Nakamura before Uso superkicked Pearce and laid him over Nakamura for the 3-count.
Many believe that Nakamura has been revitalised since taking part in the gauntlet match, and he seems to be headed for a huge clash with Roman Reigns. His path to the Universal Champion continued this week with the ‘Artist’ getting some revenge on Uso by defeating him in a hard-fought match that opened SmackDown.
For now, Reigns has his hands full with Kevin Owens who became his Royal Rumble opponent on SmackDown this week. However, it looks like Nakamura will be waiting in the wings to take him on next.
